Appellate Law Section Meeting

Hon. Melissa Countway Vetanze was appointed to the Circuit Court in 2017. She was previously the Belknap County Attorney from 2011 through 2017. Prior to that Judge Vetanze operated Alton Law Offices, PLLC. She graduated from UNH in 1993, received a Master of Education in 1994 from UNH and attended law school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, graduating in 2002 after a career as a middle school math and science teacher. Judge Vetanze returned to New Hampshire, clerking for Chief Justice Brock at the NH Supreme Court. 12/2020

Emma M. Sisti is the Deputy Director of 603 Legal Aid in Concord, NH. She graduated from Cornell University in 2002 and Vermont Law School in 2006. Prior to joining 603 Legal Aid in December 2021, Emma was a staff attorney at NH Public Defender for 15 years. She leads the pro bono department and has worked in collaboration with the NH Bar Association and the NH Judiciary to increase engagement of the private bar in providing pro bono legal services to vulnerable New Hampshire residents. Emma has also served as an adjunct professor at UNH Franklin Pierce School of Law in the Legal Residency Program, is a member of the Access to Justice Commission Pro Bono Working Group, speaks regularly on the impact attorneys can have on closing the access to justice gap, and is active on several non-profit boards. 10/23
