Advocating for Survivors: 2026 DOVE CLE

Katrina Brownlee is a retired and decorated NYPD detective who rose to the rank of 1st Grade Detective and served as a trusted security professional for Mayor Bill de Blasio. She is a motivational speaker, mentor, and best-selling author of And Then Came the Blues, whose work has inspired audiences worldwide. A survivor of domestic violence and transgenerational trauma, Brownlee has dedicated her life to advocacy, healing, and empowerment. She leads seminars for law enforcement officers and frontliners focused on managing domestic violence, with an emphasis on domestic violence intervention, self-esteem, and self-awareness, helping to ensure safer and more compassionate community interactions. She is also a motivational speaker who addresses domestic violence, self-esteem, and self-awareness, empowering individuals and organizations through education, healing, and resilience. Brownlee is the founder of Young Ladies of Our Future, an organization dedicated to helping young women heal from interpersonal violence, build self-confidence, and achieve their goals. She also established Can’t Be Silenced, an organization focused on solutions to the urgent domestic violence crisis. Through her charitable foundation, she extends support to communities in need, from providing groceries to families during the holidays to feeding the homeless. Her remarkable journey has been profiled in CBS’s 48 Hours, The New York Times, and The Guardian, and she has appeared on national platforms including The Breakfast Club and The Kelly Clarkson Show. A sought-after speaker, Brownlee travels internationally, sharing her story and insights on resilience, empowerment, and justice. She is an alumna of The College of New Rochelle and continues to inspire as a leader, mentor, and advocate for those whose voices need to be heard.

Jen Forys is the DOVE Program Manager at 603 Legal Aid, where she dedicates her career to protecting and empowering New Hampshire’s most vulnerable populations. A Granite State native, Jen brings deep regional expertise and a trauma-informed perspective to civil legal aid. Her foundational work as a Direct Service Advocate and Family Violence Prevention Specialist at REACH Crisis Services in Manchester equipped her with first-hand insight into crisis intervention and community resilience. Holding a degree in Travel and Tourism from Johnson & Wales University, Jen leverages her unique background in service management to streamline program delivery, break down systemic barriers, and ensure survivors have an accessible pathway to justice.

Mary Krueger is Supervising Attorney for the Domestic Violence Advocacy Project (DVAP) at New Hampshire Legal Assistance (NHLA). Since becoming an attorney in 2006, she has represented clients in a wide array of civil cases including domestic violence protective orders, divorce and parenting, housing, public benefits, and local agriculture. Attorney Krueger is Chair of the re-convened Governor’s Commission on Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Stalking. Krueger is a former board vice chair at ACLU-NH, past-board chair for Turning Points Network, former School Board member and served in the AmeriCorps Victim Assistance program. She earned her JD at Franklin Pierce School of Law. Her prior career was in broadcast journalism.

Paul Maggiotto is an experienced trial attorney with a practice focused on personal injury, criminal defense, and family law. He is admitted to practice in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and New York. Paul graduated from SUNY Buffalo and earned his law degree from Northeastern University School of Law in 1984. He began his career as a Brooklyn Assistant District Attorney, prosecuting serious sex crimes and homicides. In 1990, Paul joined the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office, where he prosecuted homicide cases and served as lead counsel in State v. Pamela Smart, one of New Hampshire’s most widely publicized murder trials. Since entering private practice in 1993, Paul has represented clients in complex personal injury, criminal defense, and family law matters. His experience includes serious injury and medical malpractice cases, high-stakes divorce litigation, and nationally recognized criminal defense cases, including State v. Hungerford, which resulted in the dismissal of all charges against his client. Paul is a dedicated DOVE Volunteer attorney and was awarded the Distinguished Service Award 2026 at the Mid-Year Meeting.

Attorney Anthony Naro, owner of Naro Law, is a criminal law and family law attorney with over 16 years of experience. His practice is focused on criminal defense, DWI defense, family law, and Supreme Court appeals. He also represents clients facing disciplinary action before professional boards for alleged criminal conduct and people who have been found responsible for abuse and neglect by DCYF and wish to pursue an administrative appeal. Attorney Naro has over a decade of experience helping those in crisis navigate the legal system. Attorney Naro graduated from the University of Massachusetts–Boston with a major in political science with a certification in international relations and a minor in Black studies. After college, Attorney Naro worked for Brown Brothers Harriman before attending Suffolk University Law School. Shortly thereafter, Attorney Naro joined the New Hampshire Public Defender. There he successfully represented individuals charged with offenses ranging from DUI/DWI, theft, drug sales, physical and sexual assaults, computer crimes, sale of drugs with death-resulting, negligent homicide, manslaughter, attempted murder, second-degree murder, and first-degree murder. In addition to Attorney Naro’s extensive trial experience, he has also successfully represented clients before the New Hampshire Supreme Court on appeal and in post-conviction proceedings. Attorney Naro is licensed to practice in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. He is an active member of the New Hampshire Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and has lectured and trained attorneys in the areas of criminal procedure, trial practice, and ethics.
